The Owners Story:
This house started as a humble workers cottage but went through a major renovation in 2015, as we started our young family. Our aim was to make a home that was both stylish and incredibly practical. We didn't want to lose the charm of a house that's been someone's home for over 100 years but did many of the 'invisible improvements' a home of that age needs (such as restumping).
The open plan living- dining-kitchen leads onto the huge back deck and garden, where we spent all our time, with friends, playing with kids, or just having a quiet drink on the deck.
Practicality was a big consideration: there is heaps of usable storage, an excellent laundry, a gorgeous, deep bath as well as a private ensuite. We wanted to use passive cooling techniques as much as possible: the ultra-high ceilings, huge, tinted sliding doors and louvered windows, airflow design and shady back garden, all mean the house stays cool in summer.
But maybe the best thing about this home for us has been the neighbours of Peach Street. We've never lived anywhere where there is a sense of community like this. Every year there is a Christmas party, kids come over and play in each others backyards, we take turns walking kids to school together, we have street-long Easter egg hunts, we have a group chat in case anyone needs anything from the shops! Having Stones Corner walking distance, and the gorgeous Hanlon Park has been incredible too. Almost everything we need is within a 10min walk or 5min drive.
This home has been good to us and we know it will be good to its next owners.
